I want to buy the students in my 5th grade homeroom class a small present to thank them for a good year. I have 17 students to buy for and I wanted to keep the total cost under $30. Any suggestions?

15th May, 2008. 10:32 pm. Upcoming Political Fiction
It is the season to talk politics but author Alex Hutchinson is doing it a little differently. His upcoming book Purple State is a fictional though inspired story about a group of activists who who are investigating the botched 2000 Presidential election in Florida. This tale of murder, mercenaries and manipulation shares a level of reality similar to when Joe Klein's brilliant novel Primary Colors made such a stir. The reason being that the author lived and worked in Florida for the six years following the election debacle. Trained as a political activist by the Florida democratic party, Alex heard hundreds of tales of what was going on beneath the media highlights. When Purple State is released on September 1st voters will be shocked at how dangerous it had become to live in the sunshine swing state during the war on terror.
The website for Purple State is http://www.suburbanfiction.com

15th May, 2008. 6:17 pm. Nature shrugs her shoulders
Does anyone have that quote of Bjork, where she's talking about how people think we're so great and have it all together, but really Nature just shrugs her shoulders and deals with us, and puts us all in our place? She said something about that once, because she's from Iceland, and how Nature can kill.
I was trying to find it on the internet, but I wasn't quite sure where to search, really. googling: bjork, nature, shrugs, deals? anyone have a better idea?
I just have been thinking a lot about this lately. The earthquake in China. The Olympics quickly approaching. Bjork whispering "Tibet" and then Tibet uprises, and then you have this massive earthquake which comes from out of nowhere, killing so many people, no reason. And wasn't the epicenter close to Tibet? It's like Nature saying "take it down a notch, you're all lucky to even be alive!"
I know it seems like a bit of a stretch, and I'm not that much of a mystic, normally. And I'm not really saying I believe it was Bjork's foot-stomping, earth-intruders song which started the foreshadowing of the earthquake (s) to come, that would be way too wacky to presume.
But it is a bit ironic that China is trying its best to just put its best face forward and make itself seem so "together" and perfect for its international guests, for the Olympics. And then this happens. This really heavy blow, in their backyard. It just seems like too much, NOT to notice some connection there. And yet, there is no reason. Nature just does what it does, regardless of who's made their nests on her crust.
It also sort of reminds me of that crazy cartoon God-like figure in Wanderlust who's digging the trenches for the rivers, and laughing at her as she goes off the edge of the waterfall. Like "take that! ...I decide, not you."

15th May, 2008. 9:11 pm. 'Changing of the Guard' updated
Title: Changing of the Guard (28/50) Disclaimer: J. K. Rowling and her associates own these characters. I am writing this story for fun and not profit. Rating: R/M. Warnings: DH SPOILERS, ignores epilogue. Profanity, language, slash sex, perhaps some violence, cross-dressing (but not as a sexual kink). Pairings: Harry/Draco, (apparent) Draco/OMC, Ron/Hermione. Summary: Need a perfect stranger? Ask Metamorphosis. Harry Potter runs the business secretly and becomes whoever’s needed for each occasion. He’s not sure whether he should be more surprised, worried, or amused when Draco Malfoy comes to Metamorphosis and requests an actor who can play his boyfriend so that his parents will disown him. Yet Harry has even more dangerous choices after he creates Brian, Draco’s “perfect” boyfriend. Draco doesn’t know who Brian is, but he’s trying to find out—and now so is Harry. Author’s Notes: Another novel-length WiP. At the moment, I have absolutely no idea how long this will be. It contains a fair amount of humor, as you can figure out from the summary, but also its fair amount of angst. If you don’t like “mistaken identity” types of stories, you probably shouldn’t read this. Also, this story is set in a deeply homophobic wizarding world.
Chapter 28. From the beginning.

15th May, 2008. 7:38 pm. missing episode?
Ugg, I really hate to post here again, but I cannot find the answer to my question anywhere! Okay, here on this page http://www.soul-hunter.com/sailormoon/television/anime-bssms.php, go to Episode 105(s) so you can see the beginning screencaps of Makoto running. She's thinking about a battle with a daimon that she lost - what episode is that from? I have been watching Sailor moon S from the beginning and I swear that episode isn't there. Does anyone else know?
